2025 Autumn Fishing Derby
Calling all jFishers and observers to join us at Sleepy Kitty for our tenth seasonal fishing derby! The event will start at 12:00, noon, Second Life time and will last for about three and a half hours. Come for all of it, come for part of it, or come to just cheer us on and chill with us!
You can bring your own chair to rez or use one of the ones provided. We also have bumper boats for those who would prefer to be out on the water (just make sure everything you need is equipped before you board). Rez rights are enabled, so if you have a tackle box or anything else that will help your fishing, or just makes you happy, please feel free to bring those out too. Just be sure to clean up when the event is over.
New players are also welcome, but it’s recommended that new players spend some time ahead of the tournament to get a casting rod first, as this will make participation in competitions easier.
Dress Code: This year, we’re trying something a little bit new. In the spirit of embracing an autumn vibe, we’re asking that everyone dress in something appropriate to the season. Warm colours, flannel shirts, whatever you have that conveys fall! Of course, this is completely optional, as is clothing in general, but please be dressed for the final group photo.
Fishing Derby Schedule
Each competition will last for fifteen minutes, with breaks in between for socialisation, free fishing, or bio-breaks. You can follow the live schedule that will be updated during the event.
12:00-12:30 – Welcome Ceremony / Meet and Greet
For the first half hour, we’ll welcome folks, introduce the event, and give everyone a chance to gear up and socialise ahead of the first competition.
12:30-12:45 – Junk Collecting Contest
Our first competition is to see who can clean up Sleepy Kitty’s beaches the best. First place goes to whoever drags up the highest total weight of trash (shallow water recommended).
13:00-13:15 – Largest Fish Contest
One that favours our more experienced fishers. First place goes to whoever can catch the largest individual fish.
13:30-13:45 – Heaviest Catch Contest
A bit of an endurance contest; first place goes to whoever can catch the most fish in terms of total weight.
14:00-14:15 – Most Fish Contest
Like the last contest, first place goes to the person who can catch the most fish, only this time it’s a simple head count.
14:30-14:45 – Rarity Collecting Contest
This one classifies catches at different levels based on rarity: 1 point for common, 5 for rare, 20 for epic, and 50 for legendary. Whoever ends with the highest score wins.
After the last competition ends, we ask that anyone who has won a trophy stick around for a group photo, but this is optional, so if you can’t make it, don’t worry.
